CM Omar Defends NC Mlas Amid Ruhullah's Criticism

(MENAFN- Kashmir Observer) Srinagar- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Saturday defended the performance of National Conference (NC) legislators after Srinagar MP Aga Ruhullah Mehdi publicly expressed discontent over the current political climate in Jammu and Kashmir, calling for a complete reform of the system.

Without naming Ruhullah directly, Omar pushed back against criticism aimed at the party's elected MLAs.
“All NC MLAs are competent and have been working for the people. “Where can you bring the new faces? The people have chosen them for five years. Why are you wasting your time? You should look into the work,” Omar said.
“Those raising questions should show their own report card first. NC MLAs will show theirs when the time comes,” he added.

His remarks followed Ruhullah's recent public statement in which the Srinagar MP voiced deep dissatisfaction with the state's political culture.
“The quality of politics that we have has degraded. It won't make a difference if you change parties; we've seen people switch sides. Until you change the politics, this tamasha will continue,” Ruhullah had said, urging society to push for genuine reform.
“No one is satisfied with the quality of polity in this state. I'm totally not satisfied,” he added.

Meanwhile, on the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, the Chief Minister said the security of pilgrims is the responsibility of the Lieutenant Governor and Raj Bhawan.“We've ensured the infrastructure and medical side is in place. It's for the LG administration to guarantee safety,” he said.

Commenting on the Iran-Israel conflict, Omar said,“There may be politics behind it, but such conflicts must stop. The only way forward is dialogue.”
