Amman, June 19 (Petra)-- A drone carrying bombs fell Thursday morning in the Azraq, 100 kilometers east of the capital Amman, after escaping its range, according to a military source in the Jorda Armed Forces - Arab Army (JAF).
According to the source, two children were hurt and property damage was caused when the drone lost direction and landed with its full cargo adjacent to a house in a residential neighborhood within the urban development zone. This resulted in loud explosions.
According to the military source, experts from the Engineering Corps Directorate estimated that a technical issue with the aircraft's operating system caused the drone to crash and explode, leaving a crater in the ground that was 90 cm deep and 3.20 meters in diameter. The wreckage of the drone was discovered 200 meters distant.
After pieces from the drone were dispersed, the explosion broke the front of a house. Members of the security services, an engineering team, and civil defense officials hurried to the scene to investigate the tragedy and transport the injured.
The military urged people not to handle or meddle with items that were scattered because doing so might result in severe injury and some may contain hazardous substances. They underlined the importance of reporting strange objects to the appropriate authorities right once and avoiding congregating near any location where they have fallen.
The JAF advised the public to follow the directives and policies of the appropriate authorities, refrain from circulating rumors, and solely rely on official sources for information.
