India's Renewable Energy Capacity Jumps 17.13% In May 2025: Pralhad Joshi
Sharing the update on social media platform X, Joshi credited the growth to the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said,“India's #RenewableEnergy sector has witnessed unprecedented growth. From solar to wind energy, our nation is paving the way for a brighter and more sustainable future!”
The surge is largely attributed to the sharp rise in solar power capacity, which expanded by 31.49 per cent, growing from 84.28 GW in May 2024 to 110.83 GW in May 2025.
This significant growth highlights the country's focus on clean energy solutions to reduce carbon emissions and dependence on fossil fuels.
India has been aggressively pushing renewable energy development through policy support, investment incentives, and global collaborations. The target of reaching 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030 remains a key goal under India's climate commitments.
The continued increase in capacity showcases India's strengthening position as a global leader in the renewable energy transition and its dedication to achieving sustainable growth while meeting rising energy demands.
